checking into bahamas twice

im new to cruising so excuse my not knowing...so here is my question, if im cruising from florida to bahamas, obviously i have to check in and pay the entry fee into the bahamas..but what if i leave the bahamas and go further south say to virgin islands, then after cruising the bvi for couple weeks, head back north to bahamas..do i need to recheck in again in the bahamas and pay another entry fee? or does my first fee carry me for the 6 months or however long the permit is for...I hope that made sense...happy sailing to all...sincerely Brian

Noonsite is the place to start in investigating entry/exit questions. In all countries you need to clear in on each entry from a foreign country, and in most you have to check out also.
From Noonsite
Quote:
.Entry Fees
Entry fees must be paid by all visiting yachts (see Fees section below for details) and are inclusive of a cruising permit (for one year), a fishing permit and departure tax for up to four persons (captain plus 3 crew). Each additional person (over the age of 6) will be charged departure tax. The fees charged cover two entries within a 90 day period. Fees are high if only intending to visit the Bahamas for a few days stopover.

Re: checking into bahamas twice

Yes. You will have to check out of the Bahamas when you leave, and check into the BVI when you enter (as well as check-in/check-out of any other countries you stop at along the way). When you leave the BVI you will check out, and when you return to the Bahamas you have to check in again. For the simple reason that you are, once again, entering their country from another country.
