Banking in Mexico?

Hi all,

I recently read a great article about opening a bank account at a Mexican bank in order to use their ATMs while cruising there. Now that I am ready to pull the trigger, I can't find the article. Does this sound like something any of you might have read or even written? I would love to find this article again, so any help is appreciated.

Thanks and cheers, Bill

Re: Banking in Mexico?

You can use their ATM's regardless; the only downside is that you'll pay international usage fees depending on your home bank. You can use Charles Schwabb and they'll refund your ATM fees to you every month; maybe some other banks do that as well.

My Spanish is passing and my wife's is fluent, and technically we could open a bank account in our daughter's name (dual Mexican / USA citizen), but we've yet to see a viable benefit.
