Re: Yard Fees

in banderas bay mexico the haul and launch with a week for paint and barrier coat is 3280 usd. no living on board, no doing own work.

but they are platinum plated...lol

most yards want 1/2 now and 1/2 prior to splash.

Re: Yard Fees

kind of is...last(southernmost mexican) reasonable boat yard for haul and paint is san blas, not far frommazatlan. mazatlan is a good one, not the yotties side--shrimping yard side..lol....and san carlos / guaymas, and la paz.....the yards on pacific coast mexico north of cedros island are very pricey also.

Re: Yard Fees

In Colombia I think I paid about $400 for a haul and launch and about 4 days out of the water. I paid workmen $20 each per day to help clean and paint the bottom while I worked on other stuff.

their rates for haulout, pressure wash, blocking etc

Re: Yard Fees

I think it's a depends on locale and business model thing.

Over here, used to have a Govt run yard for boats to be worked on DIY and by contractors. Was priced low enough for folks to keep boats their for a couple of years and was always pretty much full - so they revamped the pricing policy a few years back to encourage folks to be in and out inside a month. The yard mostly empty nowadays - although of course that may also be as much to do with the economic downturn, but I suspect it is the case that the sweetspot on pricing was missed by a country mile!, could be that OP's yard is doing the same........

We work full time so it may be that we plan vacation time around working on the boat. About the same money too

I'll check out Turner Marine. I got the prices for Pensacola Ship Yard today, they were $350 for haul out, launch, block and brace, and one move of stands. Work yard stall rate $418 per month. Much more reasonable.

I don't recall the name offhand, but it was some Dutch brand of ablative paint. I purchased from a guy who hung around Club Nautico and would go get it for you if you paid him first--talked to him a bit and decided to take the chance and he did show up the next day with a big drum of the stuff. I researched it a bit on the Web and it was a legitimate paint company and product, and it held up well for a couple of years.
