Yanmar 27hp Throttle Sticking - Need Help

My father has a Yanmar 27 on a Pearson 30 and the throttle cable is sticking as it enters the engine. Has anyone dealt with this and is there a quick and easy way to remedy this problem? We've tried spraying solvents at the entrance and it doesn't seem to be working too well. I'd rather not have to go into the engine. It's rather cramped in there on the Pearson. Any help is greatly appreciated.
