Worst Boat Bottom - Pics

I was looking for something & ran into this photo. We all rant on about the best/worst bottom paint but its high time for the worst results. Show us your worst.

Just imagine how great the fishing would be under this floating salad. He would have a bit of trouble checking in to the Galapagos.

Re: Worst Boat Bottom - Pics

I don't think he'd have any trouble checking in to the Galapagos. Getting there would be the problem.

Re: Worst Boat Bottom - Pics

What anti-foul did he use - it's obviously crap.

Here's the worst mine ever got.

Plus a gratuitous shot of our sailing club to make me feel better

No problem at all, he's already chipping away at it.

But, it's the worst i've ever seen!

WOW…that first photo looks like a boat with a kelp forest growing below it. Amazing!

Re: Worst Boat Bottom - Pics

Just a quick little story: I was in a nice marina one night recently where a sparkling new mega-yacht was docked. It was shiny all over, and even had lights underwater to show it off in a beautiful blue glow. But as I walked past, I noticed that its bottom looked almost like our number-one photo.

It took two or three disbelieving glances to realize that the boat's bottom was so shiny, it was reflecting the under-dock growth like a mirror!

You know the saying; "Moss won't grow on a rolling stone". That goes for boats too (almost).

Skylark is berthed in the IJsselmeer in The Netherlands. Fresh water. Every summer she spend six weeks out of the IJsselmeer cruising northern Europe.

Going from salt to fresh water and back, seems to kill all growth. Barnacles don't like fresh water and the algae doesn't like salt water.

I use Micron every 2-3 years and am happy I never see any goose barnacles.

Where were those barnacle farms moored anyway?

I can see why you'd quote bottom cleaning by the hour... or at least by the growth/inch - LOL...
