The wing keel is a good design, it has its drawbacks, but for the most part, its ok..
Randy, I basically agree with you, but the OP asked
"So does the wing keel make this Oceanis 370 any less of a blue water boat"?

And I still think that some objective data would answer him more usefully than a subjective and unsubstantiated "no".

Cheers,

Jim

I told them, I did it because I thought it was pretty....

So what are some of the drawbacks that you know of?

The boat itself is proven offshore boat with a great builder history, and manufacture of production off shore race ready boats, the FIRST Series..
This same technology and quality is built into all their boats..
The wing keel is just another design, and a comprimise like all other things.. It might not point as High as my deep fin, but it will also get you into shallow areas where I cant go..
If you like the boat itself, I wouldnt push it aside due to its keel configuration..

Re: Winged Keel

After looking at 100 boat on line the last few weeks, that size of sailboat with a draft of 4', 4'1", 4'2", 4'3" is hard to come by that is 20 years old or less. I really do not want to get over 4'2" and if you've sail the back waters of the Florida Keys you will know why.

That you all for your response, it has helped a lot.
