WinDancer refit progress...

We brought WinDancer home from Texas on July 4th. She is a Beneteau 265 with double spreader rig. (Not sure what's up with double spreader rig... future research project). Upon arrival, i took her straight over to the diesel mechanic since the engine would not run.

This is a 1 cyclinder Volvo Penta 2001b engine. $3K and three months later the engine works. The mechanic saved a fuel sample for me. It was 60% clear liquid of some sort 20% gritty substance (cigarettes?), 20% diesel.

Not sure what the clear liquid was - they removed it. Potentially gasoline? kerosene?

Someone had destroyed the push rod that actuated the high pressure injector pump. This forced the mechanic to pull out the engine and work on it. He said the engine wasn't installed correctly.

Valve job, control system rebuild, fuel system cleaning (twice), new injectors, new fuel filter, and the engine works just fine now.

I have yet to sail her, tried out the engine with the mast on the deck.

should be a fun winter.
