Will expired KiwiGrip harden?

Hi, quick one, does anyone know if a batch of KiwiGrip which is over its official shelf life will cure?
It was stored inside (not cold) and is like toothpaste in consistency.

Thanks,

Franziska

Re: Will expired KiwiGrip harden?

How far over the date?
New can or used?

We just Kiwi Gripped our deck, it was more like yoghurt so toothpaste doesn't sound right to me.
But why not contact PYI themselves and ask?

Re: Will expired KiwiGrip harden?

They are overseas, and I'm in the shop right now.
New can, just opened once. Consistency is still very easy to roll on. Not much different to what I rolled on my deck few years ago...

Bought it. I'll try on a sample first. 40€ instead of 190€.Worth trying..

We have some in our bilge that is a year and a half out of date, but was just fine when painted on deck two weeks ago. It seems to be freezing that kills it not time. -Matt

Try a test batch first and see how it goes. Heating it up may help.

I’ve used out of date product and it was fine. As mentioned, freezing can be an issue but otherwise it seems a safe bet.

Re: Will expired KiwiGrip harden?

Some of my older KiwiGrip has become thicker (but still usable) over time due to repeat uses from the same can. Can I use water to thin out the viscosity of the old product to the match that of newly purchased KiwiGrip?

Yes, Because KiwiGrip is a water based product, you can add the appropriate amount of water back to the product to match the viscosity of the new paint.

Re: Will expired KiwiGrip harden?

It worked. Cured. Could use 80% of the tin. Some stuff was to hard to be used. But all in all good result :-)
