Re: Where to buy Dorade accessories?

There are some good used gear chandleries within rock throwing distance of you. Both North & South of the border. The catch being, that there's NO substitute for visiting them yourself, & looking at their wares. And doing so on a regular basis, as well as establishing a relationship with the staff.

Also, have you tried putting up some Gear Wanted postings? You may wind up buying another whole Dorade & accessories, but for only $20. So it's worth a try.

And as stated already, fabricating one (or a few) DIY style likely won't be that difficult. And may save you both time & $, vs. all of the travel, calls, & online time it'll take to find a replacement.
Ditto on fixing the one you have, & making it better than new. Via a bit of beefing up, & some new paint. Unless, that is, UV has killed the plastic through embrittlement.
Either way, fix, or build one yourself, there are examples of similar projects having been conquered on the WEST System website, & plenty of other places.

Re: Where to buy Dorade accessories?

Might be possible to make one fairly easily. Picture a 5+ inch diameter plastic lid. Wax the cowl threads - really thoroughly- 5 coats at least, buffing in between. set the waxed cowl threads onto the plastic lid. Pour epoxy, best with glass strands pulled from fiberglass cloth, wind stands around the whole thing in the epoxy. And couple hours later you have a part. easy enough that if the first part is not perfect it is easy enough to repeat with whatever modifications are necessary. I make many kittle parts like this with good success rate. good luck. Foufou
