Where are the cheap used spinnakers?

I hear that symmetrical spinnakers are dirt cheap used. Where can I find one in Europe or the US (that will ship)?

Or an asymmetrical would be even nicer.

I Measurement 17m
J Measurement 5.62m

(If anybody here has one too many feel free to offer.)

Thanks!

Google on second hand sails, a number of different outfits will come up, then you peruse their stock. The reliable ones are pretty accurate about sail condition.

Look in classified ads. I found mine (an assymetric which isnt too far off the size you're after) on gumtree.

I was hoping for direct links or names. I have no clue about who the reliable ones are.

Regular classifieds are a bit hard because we move around too much.

Check with Bacon Sails, www.baconsails.com, in Annapolis, MD. Usually you can get the best from areas that are racing centers.

You can try Minnies yacht surplus in Newport beach Ca. Shipping might be expensive but it's not as heavy as a jib or main.

Bacon has a HUGE inventory, and if you go to the site above you can search their inventory by boat, size etc.

Can't really comment on their prices though.

Re: Where are the cheap used spinnakers?

My experience with used spinnakers is that there are generally two kinds:

-well used ones that racers own or owned

-what I call "Dear God" spinnakers. These are like new spinnakers that cruisers have purchased and flown. Once up the 1st time, the skipper has said "Dear God...if you allow me to get this sail down without incident, I promise, promise, promise I'll never fly it again".

Too funny.

We keep an as new Dear God on our boat. She's a real beauty. (in the bag)

Thanks for the morning laugh Roniszoro!

Mine actually came out of a dumpster, so the price was right. It was in decent shape and fits almost perfect!!

I got one on eBay in good shape 55’ luff with an older but functional sock for $250!!! I’d look on Craigslist as well.

I think that's what ours was. On possibly a smaller boat. For us it's a nice sail though.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. eBay hadn’t even crossed my mind at all so it pays to ask.
