Thanks muchly..this horse has now been well beaten, and my mind is made up. I will do a coat or two of WEST Epoxy 105/206/422, just because I have it on hand and everyone agrees that its a good idea... and then 2 coats of Interlux 2000, or three, if my paint goes that far. It is the belt and braces solution. It has been an education.

Now, what to do about the !#&*$%! spring blackflies while I am working outdoors? Bug repellent spray and cuprous oxide sanding dust make a heck of an itchey mess.

Well - here's what most people do (in the Great Lakes area). They get their bottoms down to the gelcoat. They put on Interprotect or VC Tar barrier coat. At least 2 coats - a lot do 4 or 5 coats. They then apply 2 coats of Interlux Anti-fouling paint for Interprotect, or VC-17 (or similar) if they used VC Tar.

They go sailing and rarely have a problem.
