What Are the Yard or Mobile Mechanic Rates in Your Area?

I have always wanted to ask this question and see what the geographical differences are.

Yard Rates in Baltimore run around $120.00 Hour.

Mobile Mechanics $60-$120.00 (Independent)
Mobile Mechanics $120.00 hr up (Company)

Most if not all charge portal to portal....their hourly rate

Guaymas, Mexico:
unskilled labor (cleaning, polishing, waxing) $5/hour
skilled labor (diesel, painting, fiberglass) $10 to $20/hour
In Ecuador, $1 to $5 per hour.

Michael

Some yards charge up to 33% "overhead" for non-yard labor.

I am just hoping that Chief isn't looking to reevaluate his rates.

Canary Islands:

- local boatyard force: 40-70 USD per hour (expect many hours on the bill and job never done on time),

- local cruising community force: 15-70 USD per hour (fewer hours on the bill and the job done on scheduled time)

No I am not.....just curiosity

When I was in Bermuda a few years back a local who did some work on the boat charged for "wear and tear" on his tools.....

He did wonderful work.....and we paid him.....

Still struck me as odd

Sydney, Australia, $33AUD (apprentice) $88AUD Qualified Shipwright, in both cases expect to pay more than you were quoted for, for the job to take much longer than than you were told and to receive 50% of the job done. Bad place to refit.

New Zealand has slightly lower charge out rates ($20 - $60NZD) but you can normally expect to get the boat back before you were told, and receive exceptional workmanship.
