Westwind 38 Fuel Tank Replacement

I am considering Vagabond westwind 38.The fuel tank is leaking and it is located under the aft cabin berth.I gave it a look today, looks as if a lot of wood will have to be removed ect.then I don't beleive the tank will fit thru the companionway.Stainless tanks too.If anyone out there has a Westwind 38 with such issues or any other input on the boat I would love to hear from them. Many thanks Dave

Re: Westwind 38 Fuel Tank Replacement

I have a Westwind and it has not leaked. It didn't look like it would take much wood removal to get it out because it is framing that supports the plywood panels that make up the bunk.

The Westwind is a great sailing boat on the Chesapeake where it can get quite choppy. Ours is setup with roller furling main and I can single hand it easily and safely.
