Welding Boom?

Hello, I hope I am attaching these pic' to let you see what, where and ask what I can do about it. I am new to sailing and already having fun and s******* my pants at the same time, having developed a hole in my pocket as well. Upon further inspection, I noticed this pin on the gooseneck, I think it is called-coming out. The boom has also been fabricated from two different pieces. Seems to be very sturdy. I figure I will be breaking a few things so I would rather not buy anything new if I can avoid it. The Harken piece above the cracked boom is something I can't identify from their website either. My name is Jim and I live in the South Puget Sound of Washington State. I have looked up spar repair, but have not found anything. It is Sunday so I have not called to see if I can find a recommended place to start. Sincerely Jim P.S. Do I remove the pin to take off the boom or pound it back in and undo the vertical bolt thingymagig whatchmacallit do-hicky part. I believe this is the proper term.

I have 5 lifejackets on board and wear them all.

Yes, you remove the horizontal thingy to remove the boom ... but that pin should never be out like that on its own ... That needs to be fixed, and properly. I'd replace it with a nut and bolt and some form of siezing, or some other secure method

Your boom needs a good Tig welder. Make sure you reassemble it with thread antiseize like tefgel or "yellow paste" as I know it

I think a weld there will just break again. You would need to weld on a whole new piece of plate.

Another suggestion is to just install a strap in the front like the one in the back of the fitting and leave the split aluminum alone.

It would appear your outhaul line is just a tad to long, so that when you put tension on the foot, the ball puts upward pressure on the attachment point, which would cause your problem. If your end plate can be taken out you could have a sleeve welded inside with the appropriate cut outs to put everything back together.
