Yes, the flame symbol should remain on during the entire running time, I have seen that happen when the cabling to the combi is compromised in some way or wired up wrongly, when did you last have this working satisfactorily? If you let me have an email address and manufacture year of the heater by PM I can send you a manual in PDF format with diagnostic information and wiring schematics that may help you with your problem.

You could be right. It was working perfectly up to a few months ago. I have the wiring diagram for the back of the control panel and it will be easy to check as I installed the unit. I will check it this evening and let you know the result
