Once I had a similar situation to repair. After waiting weeks for water
to stop draining, we used a thin layer of hydraulic cement to stop water
draining after grinding back. We then completed repair with biaxial glass and epoxy
dried out a few days later. The glass was very thick allowing us to taper back about 12:1
I did have concerns of freezing after returning from islands though - but never a issue...
