Waste System Upgrade - Morgan321

In about 18 mo. we will plan to use Believe - our Morgan 321 - for extended coastal cruising. Upgrading Believe's wast-holding system has now risen near the top of our upgrade priority list. Currently, she has a 20 gal. / 75 L bladder located under the V-berth. We want to remove the bladder and install a proper holding tank system to include a macerator or manual discharged pump, Y-valve, anti siphon loop and vent line for the tank.

Simply replacing the bladder in its present location with a holding tank does not strike me as being the best solution.

Any experienced boat plumbers - which I'm sure most of you are -care to offer suggestions on location and/or components that work or not.

They have a huge selection of sizes and shapes. Go to the web site and pick out the one you want then get your local marine store to order it for you. That should save you a couple of bucks over ordering it direct. I plumbed my discharge from the toilet directly to the holding tank, no Y-valve. I have a tee on the tank discharge. One leg goes up to a deck fitting and the other to a macerator pump for overboard discharge. I learned a trick from Peggy Hall, wire your macerator pump to a key switch. That way you won't need to lock the seacock. Only someone with the key can discharge overboard. Peggy will be along soon to tell you where to put it! Listen to her. Another thing I've learned from Peggy is to use large vent lines. The critters that eat poop like a lot of air. If you order your tank from Ronco you can specify what size vent hose you want to use. It would be a good idea to buy Peggy's book before you start this project.
