Re: Walbro Diesel Pump Rebuild

Specifically, there are 3 nylon washers and a small spring. One washer goes on the end of the armature shaft. The other 2 isolate said spring electrically. The spring works somehow to close the circuit, turning the pump on and off as fuel demands require.

Re: Walbro Diesel Pump Rebuild

Finally, a snafu. I was getting concerned.

The pump is pumping fuel successfully. That, in itself, is incredibly satisfying.

As I was attempting to vent the top of the Racor, the plastic vent bolt sheared off.

Should this piece be plastic? You might understand I am stunned by this development.

So, I put it away for the night. I will go by Fisheries on the way home tomorrow and get a new bolt. Hopefully, an upgraded metal one.

Re: Walbro Diesel Pump Rebuild

So, the Walbro bellows kit does, in fact, fix the pump. If I can do it, you can also.

Anybody got any thing to add?

Nothing to add but glad you posted. I didn't know they had rebuild kits. I have one of these on a Dickenson stove in my hunting cabin.

Re: Walbro Diesel Pump Rebuild

This project is officially stalled as my life gets in the way of my living.

A new Racor vent plug has been acquired, $12.

To be continued, Saturday morning.

Been away housesitting off the boat for a bit, but glad to hear things seem to be working out. I will order one of those service kits. Thanks for this.

Re: Walbro Diesel Pump Rebuild

It's Saturday and I am back at this.

The pump is just happily pumping fuel. However, it doesn't make pressure and stop. So I'm going to take it back apart and try to put it back together one more time.

This picture is of the priming of the pump itself. Its really pumping fuel well. Which really makes me feel quite pleased.

Re: Walbro Diesel Pump Rebuild

As typical for this engineer, I missed one line in reading the directions . The next to last line which speaks of a specific measurement between the bellows retaining plate and the contact plate. Going to take this back apart and double check that I've got that measurement correct.

I gave myself a week to do this project and I only have three days actual work it. Actually less than 4 hours.

Stay tuned thank you

Oh, just trying to be through

I couldn't find this information on the forum, no matter how I changed the search parameters. Hopefully, someone will use it. Certainly, it's helped me because I am able to look back at the pictures and review my thought train days later.

Re: Walbro Diesel Pump Rebuild

This is the pal-nut. And I seem to have the adjustment way off.

Let's try this again.

Re: Walbro Diesel Pump Rebuild

This instruction is isn't clear to me.

I could use some experienced help here.

" depressed bellow's and armature assembly until it is against point-plate. Adjust pal-nut so there is a free space on drive stem of the thickness of nylon washer about 1/16th inch.
