Volvo Penta Parts

I have a Volvo MD2B 2 cylinder diesel engine. It is locked up and the head gasket is blown. Oil is milky white and as I said the engine won't turn mechanically.
Where can I find Volvo Penta Parts but not from the dealer? Everywhere I look online it says I need to go to the Dealer for pistons, Gaskets, rings,etc...

Does anyone know where to get aftermarket parts for this engine?
Thanks in advance

Re: Volvo Penta Parts.

Marine Parts Express Volvo Penta, Mercruiser and more - Marine Parts Express - engines, outdrives, propellers has Penta parts at a small discount from list.

French Creek Marina http://www.frenchcreekmarina.com/ sometimes has used but servicable parts for Volvo.

I have dealt with both before with good results.

Re: Volvo Penta Parts.

Post around. Maybe one can cut a new gasket from gasket material?

I have seen folks cutting new gaskets this way. Small ones. But if it is the same material then you can probably buy the material and DIY.

I think you may be right. I priced two pistons at $751.00 USD alone. A used engine or a new one would be so much more economical then a rebuild at this point. Even a kicker on the back is more economical then a new or used engine. A bracket and used motor is less then a thousand if I put it on.

Then I could use the extra space for a battery box and storage among other things..

Re: Volvo Penta Parts.

Yep. VP parts expensive. Double that for any old engine.

But pistons are one thing a head gasket another. Are you sure such a gasket cannot be made?

Re: Volvo Penta Parts.

BTW Last time we needed a gasket for an old VP it came at about 30 USD (VP original parts).

I got a price of 150.00 USD for a gasket set. I'm sure if I could save the old one a stencil and razor blade could make a new one. I have heard though that the head gakt on a VP is also used as a shim. I'm not sure if you can interchange the two types of gasket material. The wrong compression could really mess with the inner workings of the engine.

You mate tried here ? :

Volvo Penta Diesel Engines - MarinePartsEurope.com

Find your engine then click on the right part and the price comes in the column on the right. Add postage and tax which will be little as the item is light. Maybe there is a deal for you there.

If you find what you want at price you like make sure it is sent in a way that will not allow for the item to be bent nor broken.
