Video Inspection Scope

Have you got one? Which one?
As one who plies Maine waters it occurs to me that I could examine the prop for a wrapped pot warp or the like without jumping in the water. Also obviously very useful for fishing wires or examining inaccessible cavities. Some say waterproof camera & wand, some say water resistant.

I have an EXTECH boroscope I use for work. Never thought about using it as you suggest. It is waterproof, so I'll have to give it a shot.

We have the Snakemate. Useful for fishing wires and used it to examine the scuppers in the cockpit but not so useful to examine the underside of the boat. Had it 2 years, used it 3 or 4 times and am currently reconsidering whether it is worth the dedicated space on the boat as we are out cruising.

It does come in handy. Here's the one I use:
THE BIANKA LOG BLOG: TOOLS OF A SAILOR: INSPECTION CAMERA
Came in very handy when I was converting an unused fuel tank to a water washdown tank. I did not know if it had baffles or not. Found out easy enough using the inspection camera. You might need an extension if you want to check the prop try it first without one.

Re: Video Inspection scope

We are considering getting a Go Pro with a pole attachment. Saw it at Miami boat show and really liked it. It's also convenient to take on snorkeling and dive trips (our previous waterproof died).
The only thing is we're waiting for it to go on sale as it, pole attachment, and the pole (only one company sells it) add up...

Re: Video Inspection scope

I just bought one off of Ebay for 30 bucks. I got it a few weeks ago but, only 18 inches long. Works good do far. I also saw some that were 5 meters that were water proof. Very cheap.
