velcro glue

Hi all.
The glue is failing on the soft half of the velcro that is/was attached to the wood or aluminum hatch frames. First the corner radiuses shrunk and now the adhesive is drying rapidly. maybe from uv? Which glue has anyone used successfully? Thanks

Sorry. It's for the bug screens and goes all around.

Re: velcro glue

Maybe try some 3M 5200. It sticks pretty tenaciously. If you don't want to have to wait for it to cure a few days then use the fast cure version.

Re: velcro glue

I've not used these on the boat, but have used them on other velcro applications: 1)That thick double sided tape, might be carpet tape. Very sticky stuff. or 2)That expanding foam type of glue, is it Gorila glue? Be careful, it gets bigger when hardening so dont put too much on. It'll cure faster if you spray it lightly with water!

Re: velcro glue

We have found that contact cement works very well with velcro. It's about all I use now because the sticky velcro back fails within weeks for us.

Re: velcro glue

I 2nd the Contact Cement for gluing down Velcro.
Works great for canvas and Sail repair also. Its one of those glues you should always have onboard.
