Re: Ultrasonic antifouling?? any good??

4 transducer version of UltraSoniTec on a 33' tri. Knotmeter never fouls no matter how long the boat sits.
It used to foul in less than a week, almost every time.

There are critics here, mostly hull cleaner people who don't believe me.
They remind me of when people thought horseless carriages would never catch on.

Oh well !!

The Jaycar kit sells for $250. A second transducer brings it up to $400.
How did you manage to spend $2k?
Did a dentist install it?

It is nice to hear a positive feedback. More info would probably helpful to others. Hull construction transducer placement and anything you can think of, possibly bottom paint? I've been a skeptic but like everything else technology changes.

Re: Ultrasonic antifouling?? any good??

I have asked the sellers of the ultrasonic antifouling for some proper scientific evidence that it really works but they always just quote anecdotal stuff. I would imagine it to be perfect subject for research by a university because of its non polluting benefits but todate I cannot find anything credible so I remain sceptical. If it really worked it would be a "no brainer"!

How many more decades until ultrasonic catches on?

Ultrasonic antifouling?? any good??

I am tired of arguing with you.
If anyone wants to read my comments, use the search function.
I've posted my results over and over.

He's poo pooed them over and over.
The system I use is not a cheapie like the jaycar system which costs nothing and promises the moon.
Mine is not cheap, doesn't promise the moon, but I'd buy it again if I had it to do over.
Nuff said?

Re: Ultrasonic antifouling?? any good??

Early days, only 14 months since relaunch and with fresh ablative anti foul coats. But looking very good so far up here in North Queensland. Got a really, really good deal though and installed two systems with two transducers each on my 7.8m motor sailer. Should keep the marina berth clean too.

Dump your brain and get ultrasonic antifouling. It works in the Queensland tropical waters.

Are you? Are you tired of arguing with me? Well, get used to it chief. Because every time you come here shouting to the heavens how great ultrasonic anti fouling systems are, I will remind people that even though these systems have been around for many years (decades, in fact), they are still relatively rare in real-world use. And you have to wonder why that is.

Just got this from one manufacturers site.

• Output frequency range: 19.08kHz to 41.66kHz in 14 bands
• Frequency steps: 12 steps in each band; 80Hz steps at 20kHz increasing to 344Hz steps at 40kHz
• Signal burst period: 1000 cycle bursts ~600ms at 20kHz and ~300ms at 40kHz
• Burst interval period: between 300ms and 600ms

I'd be interested if you could point me to information regarding the ill effects of any of the above frequency ranges on humans. I'm off to a boat show this week, so will happily challenge manufacturers if I have suitable information.

Hey "chief".

Lithium batteries have been around for some time, but relatively few boaters use them.
Following your logic, does that make them bogus also?

No, because lithium batteries actually perform as advertised.

Obviously you agree that ultrasonic systems are not in widespread use, despite having been on the market for many years. What is your opinion of why that is?

And if the ultrasonic systems came into wide use, you wouldn't be under a boat in a marina somewhere.
