Re: Two Major Realizations on Refits, and Life...

Good luck with it. Not sure how you manage with two little ones to corral.

Fortunately for me there is still something therapuetic about working on my own boat. ...and it's a good thing!

I don't know where to begin quoting. :-) I relate to something in every post.

I'll just say that I thought I was the only one obsessive enough to work 5 hrs on the boat, then go to my paying job and put in another 7 hrs, where I spend my time planning what I'll fix for 15 hrs a day when I've got a couple of days off.

So far this winter:

All new electrical system, including wiring
Keel cable replacement
Re-bedded all deck hardware
Installed new nav lights
Installed new depth and speed instruments
Removed head and tank, and making glass repairs to inside of hull
Installed rope clutches
Fabricated and installed nav table
Installed pseudo portlights and new compass - required filling 4" hole in bulkhead with plug and glass
Installed stereo
Refinished some topside teak
Repaired cracked compression post
Installed fan and iPad mount
Installed anchor roller
Fabricated sealed and cross-vented fuel tank locker

And left to go...

Repainting boot stripe and top stripe
Caulking rub rail
Installing solar panel and controller
Installing battery monitor
Repairing gel coat scratches
Spot painting topside repairs
Compounding and waxing hull
Installing chain pipe
Canvas work

And I need to redo the keel guides on my trailer.
