Trampoline replacement time - Poyester or Nylon??

We need to replace the two trampolines on our Catamaran (first time). After researching styles and suppliers etc., we landed on replacing it with the same as the factory had originally supplied, which is a 13mm x 13mm woven netting.

Upon reviewing sources, the two suppliers we narrowed it down to, each supply the same size and style of net but in different material, and of course each claim theirs is superior and will last longest!!

One is made of "polymide" (nylon), and the other "UV coated polyester". Both come cut and sized for our boat. Both suppliers seem to have significant experience/history supplying this type of net to catamarans.

Anyone know if one material is a better than the other for this use?

Thx

Polyester, for sure. Nylon stretches too much.

I recommend you consult other C-50 owners on the Catana Yahoo Group, Catana Cats. This is a very good technical forum. You need to have a Yahoo account and membership is granted by a moderator to limit spam. Click on "+ Join Group" and follow the process.

Thanks. I was wondering about the stretch - the nylon supplier says they are a bit tough to get tightened on when installing, and the Polyester guy says they make the nets 80mm smaller so that they can be tightened after they stretch....

I am already a member, and I will do. I just find this site so much easier than Yahoo Groups - but that's just me!
