toothpicks - no ! i mean masts !

i have two toothpicks ... i mean masts - beautiful pine masts that need to be painted- they are on a tabernacle system and it seems like i could lower them at the dock - i have a grassy area that would give me access and then turn the boat around to lower the other one ....i think... i looked for a yard with a cherry picker .... NO SUCH thing .. why??? i ask myself... would be very useful in a boatyard.... another boat yard wants to remover them and paint them for over two thousand dollars ..an then i could also go to Greece or Central America and find a small young man to hoist in a bosun's chair.... i know lowering them sounds

Yes its fairly straight forward... undo the lowers run a halyard from the masthead to a winch/windlass and lower away gently... you'll need a couple or three folk to take the weight of the mast once it gets to 45 degrees and lower by hand the rest of the way...
Suggest you do the aft one first...
