Tiller pilot spares

Hi Guys, Does anyone know where I might get replacement drive belts for a Raymarine/Autohelm ST2000 Tiller Pilot?

Re: Tiller pilot spares

I'm confused! I'm not familiar with tiller pilots having drive belts... are you really meaning a wheel pilot?

Re: Tiller pilot spares

They have a tiny little belt inside. From my experience the belt lasts a longtime, in my case forever. The only problem ive experienced with raymarine tiller pilots is they aren't as water proof as they are meant to be.

Fascinating! My last 2000 series was a long time ago, and I don't remember any such thing then. And the 4000 ST drives that I have on this boat do not have any belts inside, just a lot of kinda crappy plastic gears and a tiny motor and a woefully undersize ball/worm drive nut.

At any rate, if it is a typical Raymarine job, it will be a standard toothed belt, available through an industrial supply house... or from Ray at 5 times the price. So, take your example to such a place and let them measure it and sell you a new spare.

Re: Tiller pilot spares

Ah ha! thanks for posting that, Stu, for it solves what was a mystery to me: The 2000 in this case is an "all in one case" tiller pilot, whilst my very old 2000 and the ST4000s that I now have are drive and brains separate sorts of things.

I just couldn't see where a drive belt would fit into the system...

Yep, The 2000 in this case is the ST2000. You were remembering the old 2000 (no ST) with separate electronics.

Edit: Hmmm - just noticed that the supplier link I posted refers to 1000,2000 not "ST".
(So looks like the old 2000 may indeed have an internal belt)
Here's the ST2000 belts:
