Teak and Holly Sheet

I just know this subject has been mentioned before but I cant find it in the search.

Im sure there was a thread about making a sole by routing out teak ply and insetting holly.

Can anyone tell me the ideal teak strip width and the holly strip width ratios please.

Thanks

Mine is
Holly 3/8 inch wide and 1/16 deep
Teak is 2 inches wide
(sorry didn't convert!)
My holly is flush with the teak but the traditional way, as I understand it, is to have the holly raised a bit for grip. I've been aboard vessels with raised holly and found it hard on the feet (but I am a tender foot).

Hope that helps, love your blog and look forward to watching your dream unfold. Is that the picture of her on your blog or a sistership? She is named Amy so it must be you.
Cheers,
Erika

Thanks Erica

Im bi lingual, so imperial or metric is fine.

I came across that pic on a barge forum and laughed. Look,. its already got my name on it !!!

Its a similar shape and design to how mine will be. Been waiting weeks and weeks for the steel, so while im waiting I thought I would route a few sheets of ply and lay some light wood strips in ready. I will use it in the galley, bathroom and eventually, on the wheelhouse floor, when thats built.

Ive pretty much wrapped up the engine for now. Still looking out for a second alternator, but no rush on that yet.

I hope to have more to add to the blog soon.
