I have a Mac 22. It didn't come with a pin for the keel so I slid a bolt in. It didn't take long for the bolt to wiggle its way out. There is only access to one side of the hole so I thought about drilling on the other side so I could put a nut and washer on the bolt. I can't understand why it doesn't have access on both sides. What am I missing here?

Re: Swing keel locking pin

It does have access on both sides or should. The inner side is inside the seat storage area in a real nasty spot surrounded by sharp fiberglass. After a while you can put the nut on by feel. When gunkholing in moderate wind on my 23 I left the bolt out so the keel would lift up when hitting bottom. You do want it in though when there is a breeze. A knockdown with the keel swinging up would be exciting.....
