Superbolts ?

Anyone ever used these “Superbolts” ? Opinions ?

A "Superbolt" or "Multi-Jackbolt Tensioner" is a direct replacement for hex nuts, covered nuts, bolts, etc. They spin onto your existing bolt or stud and provide a better way to bolt up your joint. They consist of three components:
1) a hardened washer which protects your equipment and provides a hardened, flat surface for the jackbolts to "push" against.
2) A nut body which spins on your existing bolt or stud and seats against the washer hand tight (Superbolt nut bodies are typically round).
3) And Jackbolts, which thread through the nut body and are used to tighten the joint in pure tension. You tighten the jackbolts using ordinary hand tools.

Anything over 1" that needs to be torqued, sounds like it would be easier on the back. Except how would you know when your at torque spec's. Unless they provide that info with the nuts.

Could have used them on the foundation bolts of the Space Needle several years back. Had to use a heavy hydraulic torque unit.

Looks real interesting Gord, but unless you are looking at holding down a winch or something on Miribella, what the heck would you use them for on the average boat???
