Suggestions on sealing leaks in hard top?

Our fly bridge has a hard top. It is basically just a flat piece of marine grade pressed wood bolted to aluminum framing. We have tried applying clear marine-grade sealant over the several dozen, small, stainless steel bolts that hold the hard top to the aluminum tubing. That works for a while but after a few weeks they start dripping again during a rain storm.

I came up with the idea of getting a gallon of that white (our hard top is white), rubberized roofing stuff they use to seal the roofs of RVs and mobile homes. That stuff seems to seal anything and lasts for more than a year. My wise wife is concerned it will look ugly and dirt will stick to it so she suggested we seek the advice of everyone here.

We haven't actually measured it but our fly bridge roof is probably nine feet wide by about ten or twelve feet long.

How would you seal such a hard top? What have you done?

Re: Suggestions on sealing leaks in hard top?

I think your first plan was half way there and better than trying to cover the whole thing. But you need to remove a bolt, counter a sink hole to make space for sealant, fill with sikalfex or similar, use large penny washer and bolt back down. Sealant on top won't work, it needs to be under the bolt head and around the shoulder (top part) of the bolt.

If you don't fancy that, our conservatory at home has 2" round sealing rings that hold down the plastic roof sheets.
