Stern Scoop Rub Rail

I am putting this on here with the hope that some on here have a source for a replacement stern rub rail for my Dufour 43. I have it on the hard doing a barrier coat and bottom job and wanted to replace the banged up stern rub rail.

This rub rail wraps around the hull deck outward flange of the sugar scoop on the stern. Google and Bing cannot find this on the net. Dufour has been difficult to communicate with and slow in responding. I have seen similar rub rails on Beneteau(s).

Here are a few pictures. Anyone know of a source?

Help,

Scott

This doesn't answer your question but seeing as no one else is offering anything...

I used this on my sugar scoops. If you soak it in hot water first, it bends easily to the curve of the sugar scoop, it looks clean and tidy, comes in many colours and it's much cheaper than many other rub rails. I don't know if this will work for you.

Call Ward Richardson at Beneteau Parts. (843) 629-5320

He can give you the specs on what Beneteau uses.

Your pictures look pretty similar to the stern rub rail on my Beneteau 473.

Thanks Privilege,

That may not work. It needs to wrap around like a "U" to trim out ruff edges.

Re: Stern Scoop Rub Rail

Thanks, I gave him a call and he sent me a picture with the rub rail by a ruler.

This may work but I have a question about your 473? On his picture, there seems to be a track made into the inside to accept a track? See Ward's picture.

Does your 473 stern scoop rub rail attach via a track or how?

Thanks,

Re: Stern Scoop Rub Rail

Gotcha. Does it have screws/bolts on the outside that secures the rub rail on your boat?

I'm not on the boat today, but I clean and 303 that thing every month and I don't remember any fasteners.

Re: Stern Scoop Rub Rail

I wanted to follow up and let anyone who has similar fun times how the stern scoop rub rail replacement went.

I did order the rub rail from Ward at Beneteau parts that jibstay suggested. The new rub rail worked on my Dufour perfectly.

The groves on the inside are for adhesive per Ward. We did not use any adhesive due to the tight fit and not wanting 5200 all over the place.

We had to use a heat gun and slowly warm the rub rail to work it onto the lip. This is thick PVC/Rubber and very stiff. We elected to use fasteners. It took about an hour to work it around the stern.

Looks good and thanks for the help finding a source.

Scott
