used SS. It does work well. It likes warmer temps. Also, I cover what I am treating in plastic or in a plastic bag (for shackles and small part) to reduce evaporation. Makes a HUGE difference. Comes out looking like new.

But when I used it on warm days, and wrapped in plastic, it works wonders. Once it dries it doesn't work anymore.

I use SS for hard to polish stuff. For pipe and easy to polish stuff... I just polish it (prism polish).
