SMISHED POTTER

I'm having a hard time thinking of a BETTER candidate for the "Construction, Maintenance, and Refit" forum category...

Up for your viewing pleasure... or shudders if you will... a poor 19 West Wight Potter that had the unfortunate circumstances of minding it's own business in the path of a poorly piloted speeding stinkpotter...

She has come to my attention as a plea for help from a very awesome (and very lucky) couple which are intending to purchase my yeller Potter.

Pics posted here for somebody who has even less free time than myself, and for all other CF members to remind them to:

KEEP A SOUND DEVICE IN YOUR COCKPIT!

Yea... I don't do it routinely either... but I will for a while, I can assure you...

Without further ado... Ouch Pics...

I always have, and it has saved the day a few times. Not speed boats, though; port tack sailboats with large genoas and no bow watch. They are as dangerous as jet skis.

That's PRECISELY the way I got hit the one time that I did... Lucky for me I was helming the "tank" (Morgan) and sustained no damage...

Wow, you're not going to attempt a repair on that one, are you? I think that boat is done.

You'd be surprised what you can pull off with Bondo and Krylon...

Given no current projects and good weather, I'd take it on... But I have negative free time, and the weather window... she's a closing...

Re: SMISHED POTTER

Not sure how disregard for others relates to owning the bigger and faster boat (car, etc), but somehow there seems to be a pattern.

Sort of like not slowing down for a crossing pedestrian 'because he was not on the zebra'.

Very sad. I am generally against guns on boats, but at times like this I think this is the best solution.

You should take the yeller one apart and knock out some female molds if the Potters are going to keep coming your way like this.

I'm with ya b.... It's the general degradation of society.... The small clusters of groups with sense, ethics, and respect are slowly disappearing...

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

I had to collect myself from the deck funny man!!!

International Marine (WWP) is (has?) shuttering US production. Rumor has it production in China is the goal.... It sure would be a ton simpler to grab a popped out deck they have laying around... Hmm....

As an FYI... This is a '14 or '15 that has actual use that:
Is easier to calculate in "minutes" rather than hours or days...

I get a truly visceral reaction to this image pair. Oh my God, what a mess. I would be SOOOOO PISSED if someone hit my sailboat in this way (or any way, really). I hope the couple were not hurt. Wow.. I am going to install a second sound device and maybe some way to immediately hoist crazy flags!

"Bah!! It's a flesh wound! Come back and fight!" (or words to that effect, my apologies to the Monte Python troupe...)

I think we all react like this... I referred to the time used, and the "awesome couple".... They had JUST picked her up 1500 miles from home, sailed her 1 Saturday, left her in the water to sail after church on Sunday... were coming in early from a breezeless day... = 1.4 days of use???

And thankfully there were no injuries whatsoever...
