Does anyone have experience with SMEV appliances in general and the SMEV 7000 series 3 burner stove in particular?

I am building the galley and need to decide on the stove. The SMEV is the only one readily available for reasonable cost in Australia.

Trouble is, each stove has a different cut out so changing the stove is a rebuild of the galley...

I did see one of the smev stoves on a Chincogan 52 cat in Pancake Creek, and loved the look of it.

He was having it replaced after less than a month of use as it had steel and baked enamel bit's in it that could not handle the heat, or the salt environment.

This was a few year's back, maybe they have improved.

He also had a HF radio that had started to die, but I can't remember what brand that was.

The warranty was good, the builder was doing a 500 mile road trip to sort the problem out, but you'd expect that on a almost million dollar boat.

i am also interested in the smev 7000, where did you get the best price from?
I see Camper, Caravan, Camper Trailer & Motorhome spare parts and accessories online shop, camec, dometic has them listed for $884.00

I'm interested in the gimballed version (unless someone can prove that the fixed is as good).
Bias has them for $1289.

I am wondering if you decided on the SMEV, and if so what your experience has been? I too am looking at this unit and at half the price of the Force 10 it certainly is looking preferable, but I would love to hear any comments in relation to the SMEV vs the Force10 appliances.

We put the smev in recently. I had to built brackets to fit the stove. All seems good but its only been a few months.

I ended up going with the LIDO Junior Marine Gas Stove & Grill .

I did the cutout for a full sized marine stove but then sticker shock hit and I just didn't want to spend the boat buck or so extra on a stove as well.

We've only used the stove for a few days at a time at the moment but it seems to work just fine.

We did buy a small Magma which goes on the stern rail with it's own cylinder. Gets a lot of use (I get told to do the "cooking" - not allowed to call it BBQing by a CF member who shall remain nameless)

Ahoy shipmates! I have just put in the brightest and greatest Smev 3 burner stove, gimbaled, with an oven and a rotisserie!!!, automatic ignition and an oven light, completely stainless steel, it is beautiful and works a treat. Replaced a rusted out Aussie stove. It slid straight in, really easy to fit and GSTfree landed in Langkawi via whitworths, around 1200 aud. No enamel or mild steel anywhere on the stove, very high fiddles for cooking under sail,comes highly recommended.
