small paint blisters

hey there forumites!
just pulled Rhosyn Mor out of the water, I appear to have patches of small paint blisters ( none of them more than 1/4 inch across). I have had conflicting sets of opinions as to what to do with them; the first school is to do nothing, give the bottom a light sanding and then just bottom paint over them , the seciond is to grind out all the blisters, barrier coat and then paint. Thesse are definateley paint blisters, I checked about a dozen of them, and they are not on the gelcoat/ substrate.. So my preference is to sand the hull with 80 grit and paint... any opinions would be much appreciated..

When we had our power boat hauled for a bottom job, the boat yard fixed a half dozen or so really large ones but left the tiny ones, like you are referring to. None had gone to the core. So if you know there is no moisture penetration, our opinion is that you would be safe to sand and paint. We were hauled again this past August for an insurance survey, and there were no blisters visible. Good luck

you did not mention whether or not you already had a barrier coat ..

I don't know if we did or not when the boat was hauled for our first bottom job, we bought the boat in 05 and had the bottom job 06, but we did have a barrier coat put on in 06
