Slipping hand-crank on LZ-1 ?

I can't get the hand-crank on the Sailrite LZ-1 not to slip when going through two layers of soft leather (1/8" each).

I've tried tightening the knob and have verified that the washer with the fingers is oriented correctly. I'm using the mega-wheel (or whatever the heavy duty balance wheel, crank-wheel is called).

If I can't get it not to slip does that simply mean the material is too heavy or am I missing some trick ?

Thanks,

-Sven

You can get an answer from Sailrite directly in their forum: Sailrite Forum: Sailrite Sewing Machines
