Shaft Seal Replacement on a Saildrive

Has anyone replaced the shaft seals themselves ? I mean, using a press to remove the old parts and replace them with new parts.

I have taken the shaft once it was rebuilt by a Yanmar dealer, and then reinstalled it, but I wonder how difficult it is to do the parts replacement myself. I don't have a press, but I think I could find one to use.

This would save some time as well as dollars, and might be good to know.

Ram, thanks for your info. Can you further advise as to how you got to the seals?

I have pulled out the lower shaft including the gear and the rear cover assembly (part 14 in the diagram, courtesy of ssullivan, that I'll try to attach). How did you get the seals out of this rear cover assembly? I have fully loosened the 5 bolts holding the bearing retainer thinking that would open things up, but everything is still tight together. Maybe this is where a press is needed?
I've been blindly tapping on this longer than I'm comfortable!
