Yes, This is the way I spread the 4200.

Re: Seacock Replacement - Groco BV, FBV, IBVF+IBV

Photos for this project have been reduced and put in order. There is a lot of fitting and adjustment as it turns out. Very roughly the photos cover removal tools homemade and Groco step wrench, preparation of surfaces, preparation and assembly of new valves, fitting and marking in place with backers, epoxy backer plates in place (not shown as too messy with camera), fitting again, mark and cut thruhulls, test fit again, final installation of seacock with sealant and bolts, launch.

Very nicely done! Why all the blue tape?

Re: Seacock Replacement - Groco BV, FBV, IBVF+IBV

Thanks,

Blue tape is for ease in cleanup after bedding the seacocks in sealant, 3M 5200 or 4200 depending on if you are a man or less, according to some. The tape did help, just use a knife to cut the cured edge of the sealant if the tape does not pull off.

I guess I should have a final install photo of one of the seacocks. They are pretty nice and easy to use and it feels like a new boat to me.

When I replace the two cockpit seacocks in a couple of years I have decided I am going to make my own backer plates from G10 and through bolt (slightly counter sunk and filled) from the outside because I think it is a better installation.
