Sea Star Helm Pump - Does Yours Look the Same ?

I am installing hydraulic steering, and have brought this second hand unit, it seams to have a tapered bronze sleeve on the outside, I am getting a sprocket machined up and I want to make it easier for the machinist(cheaper for me) as not to have to machine a taper and a key way on the shaft.

I was wondering if this is an aftermarket feature on mine that I could remove so if anyone has the same unit or experience with the unit I would be grateful to know.

(the writing says this is the bronze sleeve) text boo boo
