Sailing from
Lake Ontario to
Caribbean. We might do the
Bahamas and island hop the thorny path, OR we might take off from
Beaufort and aim for BVI's. Then we'll be hanging out in the Lesser Antilles for a while.
Current Set-up - (its not cruising friendly.......yet.)
-
Hughes 35 - IOR 3/4 class type sail plan
- Masthead
Sloop
- 150% on roller
- Symmetrical
Spinnaker
- 10.27' - E measurement (smallish mainsail)
I'd like to re-rig my
boat with Dux, including the headstay. I realize this means i won't be able to use my
Harken furler, which i'm perfectly fine with. I also might install an inner-forestay or Solent stay.
I'm looking for suggestions on a sail inventory, with perhaps a
code zero thrown in there somewhere.
I've thought about using a
structural code-zero on the
head stay, with the ability to completely furl the headsail if the
wind picks up, then i'd have the ability to hoist a smaller sail on the inner-forestay.....?
I don't have any experience with a continuous line furlers, so excuse my inexperience if that sounds ridiculous.
Would i be able to hoist different
sails on the headstay w/ the code-zero and hank-on
sails? How would you rig this
boat using a Dux headstay?
** I realize i can just keep my
current roller furler and rig a wire head-stay, but I'd like to rig the entire boat with dux.
