rusty burns

grinding my anchor chain i thought it was covered,but the next day i found rusty spots on the deck

what do i put over this so it doesent blead through after i repaint

or is there another solution

Atol has the idea, but he did not specify that these will remove the stain. Any acid cleaner will dissolve rust stains so that there is nothing to bleed through. I like CLR, but they all work. The main thing is to give them enough time and reapply. This might take an hour or more. Scrubbing won't help much.

he might want to check his neighbours boats as well if he did this in the marina,especially the shiny ones,which seem to attract grinding dust.

if i have to cut metal i generally try to use a hack saw and lots of old towels to minumise residue on my boat and others down wind.

diluted phospheric works fastest,but vinegar or cocacola if nothing else is available,rinse and repeat till spots gone.
