Rudder Shaft Strengthening

Hi, I was looking at a 1990 Jeanneau Sun Magic recently and was told that some of these boats had their rudder shaft strengthened. I could not get any further info. Does anyone know why this was done (heard of any failures?) and how this needs to be done? If I buy this boat I would like to know whether this is a design issue that needs fixing or just some superstition of some owners. Thanks!
