Newport 41 was "on the hard" for 15 yrs. unattended. Ended up with water/diesel mix (leaking
fuel tank) resulting in destroyed
cabin sole as well as
oil stain 8" up on all the furniture. Have rebuilt
fuel tank, and relaid the underlayment for the sole with
marine plywood. Since
teak and holly
sheets are 1. very expensive 2. the veneer is so thin as to be ridiculous 3. the foreward sections have a lot of bend and a step up to contend with. Soooo, I am considering using a new HD vinyl in
wood pattern (like cherry or mahogany) and the new styles even have slightly raised
wood grain (looked great in my doctors office) !! Question: has anyone tried using this for a sole ?? Any recommendations ??
