Replacement Hatch Stays

Folks,

Having only owned the boat for a few weeks now, I have begun to recognize that my current hatch stays suck. On top of that, my hatches are super heavy solid wood and probably 1/2" thick glass or something. Needless to say, one misplaced finger and it'll be a trip to the ER.

Can anyone recommend hatch stays that don't slam the hatch closed? Or at least, stays that are not dependent on locks to keep them open? For example, I found these but they seem a little short for my hatch openings:
