Repair of Simpson Lawrence Clock

I have a nice Simpson Lawrence brass clock that is part of a set on the boat. The internal mechanism quit working. It is Kienzle from Germany. I takes one AA battery.

Does anyone have any idea how to buy a new mechanism. It seems like a very simple piece.

My first inclination is to take it to a clock repair shop after checking the yellow pages. Most clocks have the same types of mechanism whether made for boat or for land use. Old boat clocks were really fine mechanisms used for navigation so if it is a really old timepiece then find a reputable clock shop. I assume that it is a newer clock since it takes a battery. If you've tried that already then I am no help to you.
regards,

Have you checked with the manufacturer. The Weems and Plath on my boat had been allowed to oxidze and the works were shot. By speaking to a real person on the phone I found out they would recondition and warranty for 100.00 plus shipping.

It is a simple little plastic gizmo, but it has kept good time for the last 10 years. Probably wouldn't cost more than $7.00US if I could source it.

If its just the plastic clock motor you want to replace then check some of the woodworking catalogs for clockworks. There seem to be a few there.

I don't have any affiliation with these folks but you might try them to see if they can get you a clock motor to fit.
