Refurb gelcoat non-slip

Anybody know of a method to refurb worn gelcoat non-slip? I am thinking add micro-balloons to some gelcoat to make it thixotropic, paint a thin coat onto the deck, and then roll on a release agent coated, embossed plastic sheet to create the pattern and peel it off just before the gelcoat cures to leave that neat patterned non-slip. Any chance of that working?
Any comments welcome..
