Recommendation for bottom paint

It's time for a fresh coat of bottom paint for the boat. My former marina did this in the past. I'd like to do the job myself as I wasn't happy with what I got the last time. I sail in the northern part of the Chesapeake Bay. I'd like to get some recommendations on paint for brackish water. Thanks to all who reply

Re: Recommendation for bottom paint

We sail brackish waters and go with Interlux CSC, available most everywhere, good rep easy to apply.

Re: Recommendation for bottom paint

If changing over, consult with the manufacturer for what you must prepare first, or the stuff may not stick. This West Marine guide is useful, and gives links to the common manufacturers - https://www.westmarine.com/WestAdvis...ying-Questions If you need to remove old paint (ugh!) or do serious prep, it probably is not worth it, regardless of the improved results. Easier to haul out in a year and re-do than spend the month looking up with sandpaper in your hand!

Best recommendations for paint is your dock mates because the growth is hyper-local. What works there?

Re: Recommendation for bottom paint

I'm reinforcing what John Trusty just posted. Bottom paint is tricky stuff to get to adhere properly, and each manufacturer has a different set of instructions for each paint. The rule to remember is to follow the instructions in detail, down to the grit used in the sandpaper and the air temperature. Failure to do so is failure of the job.
