Quick water filter question (hand pumped sink)

Is it possible to add a basic water filter to a hand pumped water system? Currently, there is nothing in the way of filtration, I just have 2 separate 30 gal tanks going to a Y-Valve under the sink which is operated by a hand pump. Could I just add a Racor drinking water filter to the line just above the Y-Valve before the sink and hand pump? Would the filter make it too hard to pump by hand?

If I have to get an electric pump I may do that, but I'd like to stay with the hand pump.

Thoughts? Thanks a lot!

Re: Quick water filter question (hand pumped sink)

I'm not sure the home style/size filters cause any restriction. I don't notice any on our galley foot pump but the hand pump in the head is a piece of junk so I can't be sure.

A very good filter will have quite a lot of restriction, one not so good, won't. If you are just trying to filter out something like sand particles, your good with a hand pump.
