PVC Repair - How????

My 3 year old PVC dinghy has 2 handles attached on either side - well...it used to have 2 handles on each side. One side has 2 - the other side just has ugly marks where the handles used to be. I still have the handles. They pulled off beaching the dinghy. So, how do I get the gunk off the handles and the dinghy and re-attach the handles? What 'glue' (?) do I use? I'll say thanks right now because any help is appreciated. Thanks and cheers,
Bill

Re: PVC Repair - How????

mek,methyl ethel ketone to clean

and standard 2 pack pvc glue, follow the instuctions very carefully, also using a heat gun on surfaces is advisable pre gluing as any humidity will destroy the bond.
also clamp for 24hours if possible

can use acetone, but not as good as mek, bombard, plastimo supply glue amongst others,do not use a hypalon glue, read labels carefully when buying as expensive if you get it wrong

Re: PVC Repair - How????

Thanks all. I know nothing about this stuff. I'm trying to get ready for the season and tired of hauling out a dinghy with handles on one side. Cheers,
Bill

Re: PVC Repair - How????

m.e.k is just the abreviation used in the industry, check out local life raft/dingy repair shops they will normally sell off small quantaties of glue and mek.

also only mix small quantaties of glue for each layer,as goes tacky very fast
