An historic moment for Puerto Williams.

Only 3 hours ago and less than a month after the new fishing boat harbour was officially opened the first yacht was lifted out with no fuss and no drama.

Moana is out for minor sail drive repairs.

While they expect to be very busy hauling crab boats when the centolla season closes in a few day's time they are keen to get work from the sailing community in the winter months.

35 tonnes and 4 metre beam.

It wasnt commissioned when i was there last February. Ill be using that next year.

There is also another new travel lift in Pto Natales, and I think it will do 60 ton.

At the moment you have to provide your own support team ( there is just the operator.... no 'yard staff' ) - as you can see in the last photo - and your own supports.

The rate sounds good, I'll confirm that tonight.

Is anyone opening a chandlery shop and support hire?

I look forward to photos of the hardstand area next winter. Lets hope the boat beside yours uses heavy duty supports and chain!

Dunno if there would be much of a living opening a chandlery.... and it would cripple my import/export business

Could be popular as very few are leaving boats in Ushuaia for the winter these days... about 20 laid up alongside Micalvi winter just past... standing room only... double and triple banked on buoys in Lauto at times recently...

You would not recognise the place... did I mention jets to PA on 3 days of the week?... year round .. the Twin Otter still operates the other days....

Cost is 1200 Euros for in / out plus 5 days....

Not designed for long stays..

Not cheap but your options are?????

There is SFA in Ushuaia or the FI...

and also... for the last few months any yacht wanting to leave Ushuaia has been given the full safety inspection.....

And the veges are said to be no better in the Ush supermercados just now than in Simon y Simon....
